Dystopia 2016
linkSo far 2016 has been a pretty good year if you've always wanted to live in a dystopic autocracy or longed for a world devoid of facts and expertise, where reality is rejected in favour of a descent into fear, ignorance, and incompetence.
There was a time when, if I saw a politician saying something comically stupid, abhorrent, or provocative, well, I would have assumed I was experiencing a cutting piece of satire. I'm not sure how to feel when current events are indistinguishable from a dark comedy about the end of civilisation.
At it's very best it's confusing.
At worst, we're doomed.
Glitch Portraits
It doesn't take much distortion of a face before it becomes a little unsettling. While working on a separate project of glitch portraiture I ended up going off on a bit of a tangent.
I wanted to combine detailed glitch-distorted portraits of politicians, with the text of something they've said. Something that might not be entirely compatible with the position they hold.
It seems like a nice way to start a series looking at the incongruous things politicians say and do.
